Biography

Abakan is not just crafting songs—he is shaping fragments of himself meant to outlive time. Born in the suburbs of Paris, he grew up immersed in music, influenced early on by Black music through his father, a singer. From childhood, singing was instinctive. But it was in middle school, performing Michael Jackson’s part in “We Are the World”, that something shifted—his voice didn’t just exist, it connected.

His 2014 debut album, built through travels and collaborations, laid the foundation for a sound rooted in groove and emotional sincerity. Blending soul, rock, and pop, Abakan gradually developed a musical identity that feels both organic and contemporary.

In 2018, he returned with “The People” (Active Records), gaining attention from French and international media, alongside multiple radio rotations. This was followed by “Perfect Paradise” (2019), a more intimate collaboration with Nyr Raymond and Vincent Payen (Electro Deluxe), which surpassed 40,000 views and earned critical acclaim. Rolling Stone France described it as “a beautifully crafted video with a touching simplicity,” while industry insiders praised the uniqueness of his voice.

That same year, “Freedom” marked a subtle shift toward electronic textures, while preserving the groove that defines his sound.

In 2020, as the world slowed down, Abakan expanded his creative process beyond borders. “Lonely Place” brought together talents from Vancouver, Tel Aviv, and Paris—featuring Jonny Tobin, Christophe Pinheiro, and Crystal Petit—blending funk and modern influences into a seamless, transcontinental collaboration.

His artistic path continued in 2022 with “Going Somewhere,” a renewed collaboration with Jonny Tobin, deepening a shared musical language rooted in feel, nuance, and groove.

Influenced by artists such as Mamas Gun, George Benson, Incognito, Allen Stone, Toto, and Earth, Wind & Fire, Abakan navigates between timeless musicality and modern production with precision.

But beyond style, his work is driven by something more essential: a quiet obsession with leaving a trace—music as a way to capture and preserve pieces of existence.

Now, as he prepares his second album for 2026, Abakan enters a new creative phase. The first glimpse comes with “Neon Reflections” (May 2026), a single that opens the door to a more visual, immersive, and introspective universe—where sound and imagery merge into a singular artistic experience.
